Guide

Home blackout

A portable station can keep a fridge cold and a lamp on. It is not a standby generator for the furnace, well pump, or central air.

Name the loads before you shop. A modern refrigerator often draws 100–200W while the compressor runs, and much less while it rests. A router is a few watts. A 9W LED lamp is nothing. The watt-hour number decides how long that mix lasts; continuous watts decide whether the fridge will even start.

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 is a realistic short-outage size: 1,024Wh, 1,800W continuous, 27 lb. Keep the fridge closed, skip the toaster, and you can cover an evening plus the night in many kitchens. A two-day outage without solar or a chance to recharge from a generator is a larger pack, or a second battery where the sheet allows it.

What this size will not do

Window air conditioners, space heaters, and electric dryers sit outside most portable stations. Even the BLUETTI AC200L at 2,048Wh and 2,400W continuous will not run central air. 61.6 lb also means it lives on the kitchen floor, not on a shelf.

Skip if

You need to run a well pump, a furnace blower circuit you have not measured, or a window AC whose running watts sit near the inverter limit. Measure the appliance or read its nameplate first. Skip also if the only job is charging phones — that is a power bank.

If you want to refill from panels on the porch, look at solar input on the sheet (500W on the DELTA 2, 600W on the SOLIX C1000, 1,200W on the AC200L). Overcast days cut that down. Wall charge before the storm is the reliable fill.
